"Maybe the highlight!"

The Olympics were simply inspiring to me! From the incredible Opening Ceremony to the very last sparkle of the Closing Ceremony, I was captivated. I marveled at the breath taking venues and the super human accomplishments of so many fine athletes from all over the world.
As I reflect on this unique experience and how it impacted my life, I think" maybe the highlight" to me was the happiness I felt for Jerry Colangelo. The "Redeem Team"was all his! Pride has been restored in USA Basketball!

"1/100 of a second!"

I can't get enough of the Olympics! Plus, I'm not sure how to describe the feelings I have for the Michael Phelps miracle. The goal going in of course was 8 for 8! He did it! In 3 of the 8 cases it took teamwork beyond comprehension to accomplish "gold"!
But the defining moment to me was in the 100 meter butterfly where he won by 1/100 of a second! Can you fathom what that single moment, I mean that 1/100 of a second of time, will mean to his life and to the history books for years to come?
It brings to mind that you must never, never, never, quit! Your 1/100 of a second could happen at any time and change your life forever!

8/8/08

One World,One Dream-the theme for the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing!
I have read where the goal of the Olympic Games is to create a place and time where boundaries are forgotten; where heritage, language, race, and religious beliefs raise no barriers between individuals; where social order of birth, national power, or material wealth, are of no account as far as human life is concerned; where individuals stripped of their labels compete with their neighbors peacefully and honorably, solely to be their best against a standard of excellence.

For 16 days we will witness yet another magnificent spectacle of the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat as the splendor of the Olympiad leaps to life in front of our eyes via our HD, flat screen TV's.

"It's a girl!"

Papa Wid times two! As reported earlier our first grandchild is going to be a boy ( Punk and Adam will grace us with 'Kael Richard')....we found out that Dallas and Em are having a girl(looks like 'Daisy Dianna').
Speaking about "it's a girl", we played host to Punks baby shower this weekend! This is an experience every man should go through one time. Weeks of preparation and hard work, especially from my bride Cinda. Cute decorations, cute gifts, cute wrappings, cute food, cute games, and a very cute creative poem Cin wrote . 31 females in all showed up, all dressed very cute! Also, a cute crowd if I do say so!
This was definitely a girl thing. After I finished my 'honey does' , made the airport pick ups, made sure the outside was pristine, and everything was well stocked, I disappeared like Casper the ghost. One vs 31 was a bit overwhelming. Just a touch to "cute" for me.
On my signaled return to help clean up and visit with the stragglers and the girls staying at the house, I was overjoyed to see what a terrific time everyone had. Thanks to all for their efforts!
