Be a GIVER!
In this season of giving, we hope you will include Grand Canyon States Games among your charitable tax-deductible contributions. Demands on non-profit organizations today have never been greater as we struggle through these difficult economic times – both in terms of delivering more services and raising the funds to provide those services.
While the daily headlines have focused on our financial well-being, Grand Canyon State Games promotes our physical well-being. We are the largest amateur sports program in Arizona and one of the largest State Games in the United States, encompassing 100 events that annually attract 30,000 individuals and involving 1,000 active volunteers.
The Games are a prototypical community service that motivates people to leave their television sets and computers to take part in physical activity on a regular basis. No matter what your athletic ability may be, we know that individuals engaging in some level of physical activity improves not only their physical condition, but their social and interpersonal skills as well.
Physical exercise reduces the intensity of many illnesses and can even reduce the risk of getting sick, which in turn, can cut down or eliminate the prospect of having to take on heavy medical expenses. Through our educational commentaries, we constantly harp on the merits of physical fitness, proper nutrition and a healthy and positive lifestyle. For young people, in particular, the Games provide a showcase for their talents and aspirations and represent an alternative to drugs, gangs, crime and violence.
It’s easy to be a Giver – and help Grand Canyon State Games. Go to our website (www.gcsg.org) and click the “Keep the Spirit Alive” panel. You can give as little as five dollars and do it all on-line.
Or click the moving figure in our GCSG logo to learn how you can give while you shop on-line - and shop while you give - under our new GIVECLICKS program. It’s easy to install and is non-intrusive. We never ask for any personal information or passwords. It costs you absolutely nothing to sign up, and you will be able to shop on-line with more than 2,000 participating retailers. That’s a win-win for everybody!
As we come to the end of 2008, let me extend my best wishes to one and all as we look forward to a healthy and more positive New Year.

"A Near Death Experience!"
Travelers from all over the country are working their way toward their loved ones to spend that all elusive family time together during the holidays!
In our case Jess and Jamie are headed this way from Vegas.....driving?
Late last night the phone rang.....chills ran down my spine knowing the kids were on the road!
Sure enough it was Jess, very upset as they got caught in Flagstaff in the middle of a storm!
My hand was shaking as I got on the phone with Jamie and tried to explain to him when I got caught in a rental van coming home from Flag one year after our ski event. So cold, wind was blowing as snow was pelting the van, could not see a thing as the wind shield wipers wouldn't work and I had to lean my head out the window to give myself a chance!
I was sure it was OVER and my life literally passed in front of me.
Truly "A Near Death Experience!"
I didn't want to scare the kids , just alert them to the true danger of such conditions! Thank goodness they made it to Sedona and promised me they would wait for good conditions to come the rest of the way!
To all of you----BE SAFE!
Happy Holidays!

"What Ever Happened To Rick Feldt?"
Christmas Cards.......I love receiving them! Catching up on old friends, seeing the family pictures with new spouses and babies, being reminded of some people that you really should do a better job of keeping up with, and there are always some surprises that brighten your day!
Sending Christmas Cards......Having a picture taken, take it to Costco to be printed, pulling out all the lists, writing the Christmas letter, having it copied on nice paper, spending hours addressing envelopes late into the night, and putting postage on them in preparation to mail!
I must admit,Cinda does it all ,bless her heart!
My only contribution this year was to ask" what ever happened to Rick Feldt?" Rick and Georgine and there three daughters were dear friends of ours back in the days I was coaching with the Oregon Ducks in Eugene. We somehow had lost track of them.
With the help of "Google" we found Rick! I called him and we laughed and shared memories, exchanged family updates, and vowed to stay in touch. Great Stuff!

"Decisions"
Have you ever thought of how many decisions you make everyday? Thousands! If you find yourself in a position of leadership the number multiplies and effects more people and often becomes reality!
As a board member of the Blue Ribbon Task Force and Character Counts pertaining to education here in the state, I am often presented with a great deal of inspiring collateral material. Most recently "The Seven- Step Path to Better Decisions":
1. Stop and Think
2. Clarify Goals
3. Determine Facts
4. Develop Options
5. Consider Consequences
6. Choose
7. Monitor an Modify
Sounds simple enough. I once was told by a person I considered a great leader just to make more good "Decisions" than bad ones and you'll be alright. I'll do my best.

"Inspirational!"
I always attack an event with a purpose in mind! People that are aware of my style know that it's to start with the end and then do everything possible to reach that goal.
The process begins with the "elements!" A list of ingredients when pulled together constitute the package.
This years Winners Circle Weekend list of elements read as follows:
1.The Double Tree Guest Suites
2.Silent auction
3.Tom Ambrose
4.Elvis Presley the Experience
5.Jesse McGuire
6.The Piestewa's
7.Doc Holliday
8.Patti Hunt
9.Todd Wilson
10.Janie Riddle
11.Mack Newton
12.Tom Draney
During the course of setting up Patti asked me"Wid, what's the goal tonight?"
I answered quickly with "Inspirational!"
By all accounts it worked! For those of you that were in attendance I hope you were inspired!

"The Seating Chart!"
Have you ever noticed how important it is where people sit? At dinner, at work, at church, at a meeting, on the bus, or a ball game!? Most people are very conscious and creatures of habit when it comes to where to sit.
As the count down continues to Fridays Winners Circle Weekend the" seating chart" for the Gala is a big deal! Can we make a sold out crowd happy? Believe me, Tara and I took great pride in trying to please everybody. I hope you enjoy your carefully selected spot!

"It's Game Week!"
Winners Circle Weekend was established seven years ago as an opportunity to say "thank you" to our sponsors, commissioners , volunteers, and celebrate our friendship with the National Football Foundation. The Gala weekend at our gracious host the DoubleTree Guest Suites Phx includes a silent auction, dinner, entertainment, a nights stay, and a brunch on Saturday morning!
The event over the span of time has created some very special defining moments for the GCSG. This year should be more of the same. The elements are in place, Gary and Tara have performed in their normal stellar fashion and the Doubletree never ceases to amaze me with their world class corporate citizenship.
I'm rolling the dice on a couple of portions in the program, but I'm confident they will have a positive outcome.
I'm anxious but excited........"It's Game Week!"

Pa Pa Wid!
I'm a grandfather for the first time! Our youngest daughter Erika and husband Adam brought in to this world an 8.1 lb,21" baby boy named Kael Richard! Cinda and I were lucky enough to share in the "miracle of life" for which we were thankful.
I view it as the beginning of a new phase of responsibility and pride for our entire family. I was reminded of so many things as the moments unfolded, and returned home with a renewed enthusiasm and appreciation of our many blessings.
Also, I realized what a terrific mother Cinda has been to our three and have every confidence that they too with their spouses will do quite well.

Why?
Perplexing Questions
For a change of pace, I am passing along some interesting questions that came to me in an email.
WHY do drugstores make sick people walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes by the front entrance?
WHY do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage?
WHY do we buy hot dogs in packages of 10 and buns in packages of eight?
WHY do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a diet coke?
WHY does the sun lighten your hair, but darken your skin?
WHY is “abbreviated” such a long word?
WHY is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dish washing liquid is made with real lemons?
WHY do doctors call what they do “practice?”
WHY is the time of day with the slowest traffic called “rush hour?”
WHY isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?
WHY are they called “apartments” when they are all stuck together?
WHY is the person who invests your money called a “broker?”
WHY do banks leave all their doors open, but chain their pens to the counters?
Ponder those while I call your attention to the fact that this coming Saturday, October 25 is MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY when an estimated three million people across the country are expected to come together to help others. I hope you will join this grass-roots effort in making our community a better place on the nation’s largest single day of volunteering.

"Hey! Stop the Bleeding"
We’ve all had enough bad news about the economy and know all too well how it has impacted our personal finances. We’ve been deluged with all sorts of advice, but that does little to solve the problem or ease the pain if you’ve just lost your job or can’t pay the mortgage.
There’s no question the country is in tough shape financially, and notwithstanding all that we’re hearing from our government leaders and the media, the average citizen has the feeling that there isn’t a whole lot he can do to alter the course we seem to be on.
A good friend passed along a blog from an individual who has been through a number of these business cycles who had this to say:
”Let me explain something to you. What's going to happen in the economyis going to happen, whether you worry about it or not. Same with the election. Pundit after pundit has stopped trying to predict the election because now they all are trying to predict the meltdown. Trust me, they can't predict either.
“I'm a futurist, so I saw all this coming, and I went through my own moments of fear before you did. Now I've come out the other side and let go of what I cannot influence. Instead I'm doing everything I can to use my knowledge and experience to help myself and others get through this. Try learning something new. Listen to people who are doing something, people who are not sitting around fearing things they can’t control.”
The CEO of a major financial institution came up with a “Declaration of Financial Independence” which I thought contained some good advice.
* WE, THE SAVERS will spend less than we earn.
* We will use our home as a saving account and not spend our equity on things
that don’t last.
* We will take care of our money and put it where it will grow.
* We will defend our credit worthiness by paying our bills on time and only
borrowing what we can comfortably pay back.
* We will know the cost of borrowing.
* We will invest for the long term.
* We will take care of the things we have and not be wasteful or frivolous.
* We will remember what matters – like family and friends.
* We will be heard that the practices that got our country into this situation cannot and should not continue.
Sound advice. As one financial analyst pointed out that after past stock market crashes, the S&P 500 rose an average of 37% in the following year. So take a deep breath, and don’t make a lot of rash decisions.

"4 years, 10 months and 7 days"
The purpose of the Grand Canyon State Games is to provide Arizona citizens with a wholesome avenue for positive personal development through sports and physical activity.
Our goal is to motivate people to leave their television sets and computers and take part in a competitive physical activity. Individuals engaging in some level of physical activity improve not only their physical well-being, but their social and interpersonal skills as well. Physical exercise reduces the intensity of many illnesses and may well reduce the risk of developing them. GCSG has an on-going educational campaign (“Feel Great in 2008”) promoting the merits of physical fitness and a healthy and positive lifestyle. For young people, in particular, the Games provide a showcase for their talents and aspirations and represent an alternative to drugs, gangs, crime and violence.
There are many benefits to engaging in some form of physical activity. Just to mention a few:
It reduces the risk of developing heart disease;
Lowers the chance of developing high blood pressure, cancer and diabetes;
Helps maintain weight and healthy bones, muscles and joints;
Reduces symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression;
Improves overall outlook and feelings of well-being.
A study by the National Institute of Health states that decisions youngsters make at any early age regarding sports and other physical activities can make a life-long difference in their health. The Institute also contends that exercise builds strong brains and may well improve the underlying mental processes that are involved in many behavior and academic tasks.
I just know that when I exercise –“ which I’ve done everyday for 4 years, 10 months and 7 days"– I have a lot more energy and my mind is a lot sharper in dealing with the tasks of the day. I hope you take the time to engage in some form of physical activity – whether it be walking, running, working out at the gym or playing in a game - on a regular basis.

"Feel Great in 2008!"
I am most appreciative of the response I’ve gotten to the blogs I’ve posted on our website over the past nine months. It’s given us a chance to get better acquainted, both for me personally and for the Grand Canyon State Games.
These are tough times, and we’re all concerned about what may lie ahead. I don‘t have a crystal ball, but I remain confident in the greatness of this country and its people, and that in time, things will get better. It will take some adjustments and some difficult decisions, but we will prevail. A nation where the Internet was invented will in time figure out the right course for the future.
One of our GCSG Board members – Andy Dzurinko has written a book entitled “The Power of Optimism,” and I concur that it is important we maintain a positive outlook during these uncertain times. Andy has a chapter in the book entitled “Get Active, Stay Active” in which he stresses the importance of physical activity and maintaining good health. That is one of the main goals of the Grand Canyon State Games.
If you’re involved in a business or organization, you hear people ask, “What’s your Elevator Pitch?” Imagine you are riding an elevator, and the person standing next to you turns and says, “What do you do?” and you have 60 seconds or less to give an answer before you reach your floor. Here’s what I would say about the Games:
The Grand Canyon State Games provide a year-round and statewide showcase for the talents and aspirations of amateur athletes in Arizona, regardless of age or ability, through programs that promote the benefits of friendly competition, physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle as an alternative to obesity, drugs, alcohol and crime.
We’ve wrapped up our competitive games for 2008, so I’m going to be talking more about the importance of physical fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle in these blogs. My theme will be “Feel Great in 2008” until the end of the year, so stayed tuned. I hope I can help you live a more active, healthier and happier life.

"Raising Money!"
If you think "raising money" for sponsorship in these hard times is fun.....guess what--it's not! I've been "mugged" so many times I think I'm surrounded! You can not imagine the horror stories I hear day in day out.
But you know at the end of the day, our product is at it's highest value in 15 years! Plus I've met some fantastic people along the way.
Take this morning for instance.I met a very pleasant lady from FNF Construction INC.. Deena was very pleasant , responsive and represented her company with great professionalism. I was pleased with the presentation and the plan is to come back for a second round with the decision makers. I look forward to it! I think we can work something out.

"Blue Monday"
I give up! As they say though , this too will pass!
I took the opportunity this morning to call all our present sponsors just to let them know how much I appreciate them in these tough times! I must say it certainly took the edge off "Blue Monday". We are very lucky.....what fine people!

I received a letter from my mortgage company today that stated:
"We are writing to inform you that we recently became aware that a Countrywide employee ( now former) may have sold unauthorized personal information about you to a third party. Based on a joint investigation conducted by Countrywide and law enforcement authorities, it was determined that the customer information involved in this incident included your name, address, Social Security number, mortgage loan number, and various other loan application information."

"Surprise!"
"My youngest daughter, Punk, had the idea to have a surprise 30th birthday party for my oldest daughter Jessica......in Las Vegas! She's a dancer.
The plan took a lot of effort especially on the part of Jessica's husband, Jamie. All in all we had 9 family members sneak in to Vegas on a Thursday night for Jess's show at 10:30. We met at the airport, went at Sam's Club to buy food for the weekend, and had dinner.
We arrived at Baileys for the longest running show in Vegas (27 years), Jubilee, just in time to take care of a ticket snafu and take our seats in the front row, stage center.
The anticipation grew as the lights went down and we rushed to put on our masks, hats , and prepared to hold up our happy birthday signs. The curtain went up and there was my beautiful Jess doing what she has always done best...DANCE! A tear came to my eye as she saw us all acting goofy with our costumes and signs. "Surprise!" It worked...we pulled it off!
Jess was on" cloud nine" all weekend. A very deserving person in her dads heart.

The Olympics were simply inspiring to me! From the incredible Opening Ceremony to the very last sparkle of the Closing Ceremony, I was captivated. I marveled at the breath taking venues and the super human accomplishments of so many fine athletes from all over the world.
As I reflect on this unique experience and how it impacted my life, I think" maybe the highlight" to me was the happiness I felt for Jerry Colangelo. The "Redeem Team"was all his! Pride has been restored in USA Basketball!

"1/100 of a second!"
I can't get enough of the Olympics! Plus, I'm not sure how to describe the feelings I have for the Michael Phelps miracle. The goal going in of course was 8 for 8! He did it! In 3 of the 8 cases it took teamwork beyond comprehension to accomplish "gold"!
But the defining moment to me was in the 100 meter butterfly where he won by 1/100 of a second! Can you fathom what that single moment, I mean that 1/100 of a second of time, will mean to his life and to the history books for years to come?
It brings to mind that you must never, never, never, quit! Your 1/100 of a second could happen at any time and change your life forever!

One World,One Dream-the theme for the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing!
I have read where the goal of the Olympic Games is to create a place and time where boundaries are forgotten; where heritage, language, race, and religious beliefs raise no barriers between individuals; where social order of birth, national power, or material wealth, are of no account as far as human life is concerned; where individuals stripped of their labels compete with their neighbors peacefully and honorably, solely to be their best against a standard of excellence.
For 16 days we will witness yet another magnificent spectacle of the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat as the splendor of the Olympiad leaps to life in front of our eyes via our HD, flat screen TV's.

"It's a girl!"
Papa Wid times two! As reported earlier our first grandchild is going to be a boy ( Punk and Adam will grace us with 'Kael Richard')....we found out that Dallas and Em are having a girl(looks like 'Daisy Dianna').
Speaking about "it's a girl", we played host to Punks baby shower this weekend! This is an experience every man should go through one time. Weeks of preparation and hard work, especially from my bride Cinda. Cute decorations, cute gifts, cute wrappings, cute food, cute games, and a very cute creative poem Cin wrote . 31 females in all showed up, all dressed very cute! Also, a cute crowd if I do say so!
This was definitely a girl thing. After I finished my 'honey does' , made the airport pick ups, made sure the outside was pristine, and everything was well stocked, I disappeared like Casper the ghost. One vs 31 was a bit overwhelming. Just a touch to "cute" for me.
On my signaled return to help clean up and visit with the stragglers and the girls staying at the house, I was overjoyed to see what a terrific time everyone had. Thanks to all for their efforts!

"Training camp mentality!"
For 35 years of my life I reported to training camp around this time of year! I still have those same feelings of anticipation. I in fact I apply them to the tasks at hand at the GCSG:
1.Preparation for the year ahead. 2. Evaluation of all facets of the organization. 3. Practice -practice- practice with an occasional scrimmage or pre- season game (as many sponsorship presentations as possible). 4. Focus on improvement. 5. Instillation of a short and long range plan for success. 6. Grueling repetitions of principals that we must stand by to reduce the margin of error. 7. Correct use of personnel is a major factor. 8. Work hard and smart. 9. Emphasize mental toughness to prepare for the ups and downs that we all encounter. 10. Shave occasionally.
In other words, the relentless pursuit of perfection accomplished through" training camp mentality!"

"The steel trap!"
For what it's worth I always thought I usually make more good decisions than bad ones.
Also, I have learned that life isn't always fair or easy.
Plus at the office at least, my memory is somewhat of a strong point.
Having said this:
1. I drive an SUV.
2. I own a house in Maricopa.
3. We have lost our Title and Presenting sponsors.
4. I forgot my wife's birthday yesterday. So much for the "steel trap!"

"Its time to operate!"
The weekend proved to be a knock out! Our official hotel, the FT McDowell Radisson, for the LPNNAG was sold out weeks ago so I new they were coming, I just didn't know what sports!
There is always a fine line between quantity and quality. Now that we are assured about the quantity I'm looking forward to continuing our concentration on the quality with a staff meeting at 10am tomorrow.
I will over emphasize the importance to prepare so as to reduce the margin of error. Things always come up , but if you are prepared you can adjust....if you're not, you spend the weekend trying to catch up! That won't happen!

"Overwhelming Obligation!"
The people who know me best are aware of how extremely proud I am to be an American. The Forth of July weekend was obviously a time to recognize the significance of "Independence Day"
and the true meaning of the celebration. As tradition has it, we head to California to hook up with all the relatives for family, food and fun. This year was no different.
Upon my return I realized that in two weeks we will present the Lori Piestewa National Native American Games...the largest event of its kind in the nation. Last year 69 tribes, 21 states, 119 cities,1910 athletes ages 6 to 78 participated. I adore Terry, Percy, Carla and Brandon and their willingness to grant permission to use Lori's name. Having said this, the words responsibility, humility, accountability, pride, and the likes come to mind. I promised the family many years ago I would do my very best to uphold the integrity of the honor.
Thus an "Overwhelming Obligation!"

"Relationships!"
I was reminded this week how important relationships really are in life and in business! While filming footage for our TV Show A to Z Games on AZ TV Channel 13 at 5:30p on Sunday evening, July 6th, the plan was to do a piece with Co-hosts Shawna and Dan so as our viewers could get to know them" up close and personal." What fun! We laughed and told stories ,kidded each other and had some serious moments. What fine people...I hope you enjoy the piece.
Having said that ,the show is produced by some other fine people,Chip and Sandy Boynton, from Boynton productions. The program will focus on our strong relationship with the YMCA and their dynamic CEO Greg O'Brien. I think you will like the format.
A heart felt thank you to Jeff and Brian at AZ TV for the relationship we have formed while doing the show! As we remember it was the relationship with Ron that helped bring vision to reality. I think you'll like the show!

"Sustainability!"
I was profoundly moved this morning attending Roy Clark's memorial service. Having my old friend and Qb Wayne , Roy's son, read the the description of the Roy Clark Power Player award we have created in his memory brought me to tears.
Upon my return home I settled in to work out, read Sports Illustrated and watch the Olympic trials from Eugene Oregon.....Dallas and Punk were born there and Jess was flying down Stansby Way on her three- wheeler. A quote from my favorite magazine read"Today is a new day, a new beginning. It has been given to me as a gift. I can either use it or throw it away."
The combination of these occurrences carried a huge message to my subconscious, if you will. I need , must, and will bring "sustainability" to the GCSG! In the wake of tough times, I will find a way to lead us down the path to "sustainability". I'm confident my efforts will be sufficient. I'm on a mission!

I'm the only person on the planet that has the opportunity to see everything and every event we do during the course of our 365 day format.....over 100 of them! I told the staff today that I see this as an honor and a privilege but also an obligation. How else can I effectively lead without first hand knowledge of seeing ,feeling, smelling, tasting and hearing the unique dynamics of each one of them! I love it!
I also take pride in being at the first event of the Summer Games, golf, on Friday am and shutting down the last basketball gym Sunday evening. "Bell to Bell baby!" It's not quite time to pass the torch.

"Safety first!"
The weekend went great! The normal issues were there of course but our preparation paid off! 33 sports at over 60 locations and we might break 7,000 athletes. A special thank you from all of us to all of you for making it happen. An extravaganza of this magnitude takes the concentrated effort of thousands of people! I'm overwhelmed at times as how it all comes together. After 13 times you would think I would be used to it.....never. The feeling I always had as an athlete, as a coach, as an administrator and a leader is still there------you know what I'm talking about. It's that fire in your belly that makes some of us tick. The before can be very anxious, the during can be very exhilarating, and the end hopefully is gratifying. I like the range of emotion that life gives us. It's 10% of what happens to you and 90% how you handle it!
The icing on the cake was nobody got hurt....."Safety first!"

"I'm always extremely impressed!"
Time waits for no man! Ready or not , here we come. The Summer Games will kick off Friday morning with my traditional golf cart ride with Commissioner Tom---it's tradition. From that point on it's solid 6am to 10pm until we wrap up on Sunday. 28 sports,65 locations,6,000 plus athletes, and thousands of spectators all cheering on there favorite competitors.
Times like these always produce special moments and adjustments on the run but if we work our plan we will be fine. The formula is simple: a loyal staff, committed sponsors, a supportive board, tireless volunteers, and knowledgeable commissioners. We need to start fast and finish strong.
The plan will work. The preparation has been impeccable.
And as in the past I'm always extremely impressed by the talent, effort, and sportsmanship exhibited by our athletes regardless of age or ability.
It's SHOW TIME!

"It's just a lawn mower!"
Long night for some reason...up early went to the office, came home, worked out and then the highlight of the day----mow my lawn. The anticipation was building since I told my son I think I had an extra mower to give him when they move into there new house. I pulled it out of the corner of the garage, dusted it off, filled it with gas, tightened up the handles, wheeled it to the back yard, and pumped the primer 10 times. Now the moment of truth...will it start. I geared up for the first pull to be strong and clean. Wham--put... put put...put boom boom----Wow!Started on the first pull. I took off mowing. The yard looked great....now back to the mower. I washed the bag, cleaned the machine top ,bottom, and underneath, let it dry in the sun then tucked it back in the garage ready for its new home.
What's the big deal? "It's just a lawn mower!" -------It was my Dads.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

"It's in the air!"
I love the weekend before the "BIG ONE!" Can you feel it? Our Summer Games is where it all started. We will have 33 sports at over 75 venues in a three day span next weekend. We hope to reach 7,000 athletes. The on-line registration is hummin', the phone is ringin', the mail is steady. Our athletes are preparing to extend themselves, the commissioners are covering the last set of details, the volunteers are anxious about their assignments, the staff wonders if there is a enough time, and I'm a little bit cranky as I keep on pushin'!
It's game time! I want the ball when the game is on the line....I like the feeling. It's show time ....the sponsors expectations are high, the press is making there inquiries. I'm checking the numbers constantly, I'm not sleeping much, and calling myself with reminders. We have a PLAN----I like the plan. In essence everything we do will in the final analysis benefit someone in a positive way through sports! Let's roll!

"We've lost one of our own!"
Sometimes in life our path crosses individuals who leave lasting inspirational impressions!
Roy Clark was one such individual in my life and I'm sure many more! His determination to excel in our athletic competitions well into his eighties will always be remembered. I will never forget at one of our track meets in Tucson we were preparing to start the "race walk" for Seniors when I heard this distinct voice saying" wait just a gosh darn minute!"Sure enough here came Roy out from under a shade tree ready to compete! "You aren't runnin' this one without me!"
His numerous medals are to many to count, but that's not how I'll think off him....more important he always used to tell me,"Wid , if I'm going to go, it might as well be on the track!"
A side light to the story , one of his children, Wayne, was my college quarterback...a fairly prolific combo in all modesty.
Our hearts and prayers go out to his lovely wife Marie and their entire family.

"We need to celebrate!"
Life goes by so quickly sometimes. We can spend a lot of time searching for that elusive perfection. Being fulfilled is not something you can delegate. You must take charge of your own happiness and emotional well-being.
Just recently I was reminded how important it is to not to let important things pass you by....like birthdays, holidays, and in my case anniversaries! I FORGOT my 33rd wedding anniversary--Luckily Cinda did too! We both felt bad. That was a first!
We vowed "we need to celebrate!"

We vowed "we need to celebrate!"

"It works!"
On Thursday Earl's office called and said that a wrestling team from Mexico wanted to come for our wrestling tournament on Saturday...would it be OK? We scurried around and got a hold of our wrestling commissioners and they said" sure". Made a quick call to our official hotel The Doubletree Phx Airport and they said they had rooms. Done deal!
Saturday morning they were the first ones to show up....14 plus 3 coaches. In fact the one female coach also wrestled against the men and helped Ref!! For her efforts she received the Power Player Award!
There was also a Native American team present....Girls wrestling guys,Natives wrestling Hispanics....You name it, we had it!
"It works!" Sports truly bridges all gaps...we see it all the time.
In this "Olympic year" the whole world will be witness to it!

"It's a boy!"
In the old days it was a surprise! The first thing Cinda & I looked for as our children came into this world was it a boy or girl and count fingers & toes! Being present for the first two and being over joyed with" rose bud lips" Jessica(she was the prettiest one at birth), and Dallas was the biggest at 9lbs 12 ounces.
After watching the Doctor deliver the first two, I decided "I could do that!" So when it came Punks turn I did the honors of delivering her myself, with some help from Cinda of course.
Now a days with ultra sound you can find out almost everything important as to the health of the baby in the first few months . It's amazing!
This being the case, yesterdays highly anticipated call from Hunk and Punk was thrilling!
"It's a boy!" Pa Pa Wid's first grandchild more importantly is also very healthy!

"He really didn't need me!"
My son Dallas and wife Em have purchased their first home! Cute, well kept, nice area, and a good deal! My long time friend Tom from sponsor, Keller Williams Realty, was a big help!
As Dallas left for work today I told him"good job on negotiating the deal!" He said "thanks, it was easy!"
All of a sudden I realized"he really didn't need me!"
Bitter sweet I guess. But, I plan on being around for awhile......just in case!

"We must not forget!"
With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the trials and tribulations, and the peaks and valleys,
I must admit I fell prey to "not taking care of business."
A spur of the moment trip to San Diego for my Mother-in-laws birthday, being involved in making an offer on my sons first home, and an impromptu BBQ at my house last night, I neglected to pay proper regard to the true meaning of the Memorial Day Weekend! All poor excuses.
With no disrespect intended to my late father, a Pearl Harbor survivor, and all our fallen warriors, as well as those serving us now, my deepest admiration and thank you is extended from the depths of my soul!"We must not forget" that without their sacrifice we would not have the chance to live in a country of great opportunity and FREEDOM!

"I can remember when...."
Yesterdays meeting at The Ft. McDowell Yavapai Nation making preparations for the Lori Piestewa National Native American Games reminded me of how far a vision can take you!
Two years ago we moved the Games to the Valley of the Sun from up north. Last year, in our sixth year, we had 1,910 athletes from 69 tribes,119 cities, 21 states, ages 6-78. There were 76 basketball teams ,35 softball teams, 26 volleyball teams, and 100 cross country and track athletes.
The largest Native American event of its kind in the country!
We simply out grew northern Arizona! We were in Page with softball,Tuba City with basketball and Flag with volleyball and track and field.
Shoot,I can remember when we started with a hand full of basketball teams in Tuba City and a few softball teams in Flagstaff.

"It seems like a cool organization!"
How well do you know your neighbors? Well, I probably don't know mine as well as I should.
Mr. Wilson (hat and eyes over the fence from TOOL TIME) and Julie seem like real nice people.
We have fun exchanging quips back and forth. I happened to pass along the fact that our premier A to Z Games TV show was going to be on Sunday evening....Julie stopped me this morning coming in from my workout, excitedly saying,"we watched your show! It seems like a cool organization!"
The end of my run was much easier to say the least.

"I hope it fits!"
I think I want to be a yellow school bus driver when I grow up! Every morning as I come off the mountain I see my man on his way to pick up all the neighborhood kids. We've become good friends even if it's just a thumbs up, a honk or a wave! It occurred to me this morning that he has a tremendous responsibility to deliver his precious cargo safely and on time!
The analogy that came over me this morning was the factor of accountability that we have to our precious cargo---my staff, our commissioners, board, athletes, sponsors, and volunteers. In delivering our first TV show "in the can"today, I hope we have done justice to all of our cargo!
When I flagged my bus driver down this morning, and gave him a t-shirt, my feeling was in step with the meaningful importance of our first show----"I hope it fits!"

"My mother is better than yours!'
Did you ever stop to realize how competitive things are? Competition is the American way of life. Is that good or bad, or is that just the way it is? I'm not sure.
Anyway, here's my pitch for the playground-------"my mom is better than your mom!".
Cinda, our children have been blessed with a mom who is unconditionally loving, caring, supportive, and available. Available...that sounds cold but as moms you kinda go unappreciated until your needed----Thanks for being there---we love you.
Happy Mothers Day to All!

"They can never take it away from you!"
This is a big week! A to Z Games ,our own TV show, premiers Sunday evening, May 18, at 5:30 pm on AZ TV. A long time coming and a lot of work......but that's OK! If it was easy anybody could do it!
You know, I was thinking how important it is to do the right thing. My parents, disregarding our sometimes tumultuous relationship, at least I knew the difference between right and wrong-----hopefully I have passed that along to my own children.
I have been misread on many occasions throughout my life. Arrogant, egotistical, driven and the likes, but at the end of the day you still have to" WIN."
And when you win, "they can never take it away from you."
That's life in the big city.

"Without your health you are nothing!"
My streak of 4 years five months and 9 days of exercising is in tack! Now, I don't kill myself everyday, but I do something. It was great to see my Dr. of 20 years this morning for my annual physical. My resting heart rate was 48, blood pressure 120/70, my weight was up 5lbs from a year ago(damn), but Doc was very pleased in general. We will wait for blood work results.
On another note, I'm due for that dreaded colon cancer screening. Wow...just the idea of it gives me the willies, but never the less it's part of the deal. Because in the big picture "without your health you are nothing!"

"Sharks"
Have you seen the commercial depicting a high level" Board Room" infested with "Sharks?"Or Donald Trumps TV show The Apprentice when he says " I'll see you in the Board Room, and someone will be fired!"
Tomorrow is my board meeting and its anything but Shark infested. I truly look forward to seeing each and every board member. They have been extraordinarily supportive over the 13 years I've been the Executive Director. An amazing group to say the least, plus I have some good news to pass along to them!

"You Raise Me Up"
The last time I heard this song in a public forum was when I danced with my youngest daughter Erika on her wedding day. Today at my friend Ron's memorial the words took on new meaning. The service was remarkable. The Minister was quick to remind us that we are all "clay pots".....disintegrating over time and someday turning to dust----the end in this world coming in different ways at different times. I was reminded of my own mortality. My "bullet proof" mentality was being challenged.
All the more reason to trust that our new TV show A to Z Games, bolstered by Ron's encouragement, to support my vision, receives my best effort. Ron, this one is for you!
Tomorrow Cinda and I are off to San Jose for another memorial----cousin Lynn. Sure to be equally inspiring and meaningful.

"The BARN!
After the Banquet we rushed off to Spokane Washington for Dallas' wedding reception. Erika and good friend Lindsy's mom Pat picked us up for lunch and then dropped us off at dear friends Bob and Tessa's' house! We then drove to "Koufax" for the reception and a chance to re-acquaint ourselves with Ems' family and meet everyone who couldn't make the wedding.
The drive was great fun getting reacquainted and enjoying the miles and miles of rolling wheat fields! After approximately 90 miles out in the middle of nowhere we pulled off on a dirt road and stopped at a "BARN!" The crowd was starting to gather and as we entered the "BARN", I must say it was one of the coolest places I have ever been in! Stuffed with stuff......all sorts of stuff indigenous to the area of course. About 200 people had found their way to this quaint location to put a bow on the marriage. Great fun.
Nice drive back to B&T house(oldies but goodies on the radio), good sleep, workout, brunch, tour,
seeing Amy and family(CUTE) , and back to the ranch.
Whirlwind but time well spent.
Time to focus on our new TV show,A to Z Games, Summer Games, and Native Games!

"Feedback is the Breakfast of CHAMPIONS"
I wanted to wait until the dust settled on the Banquet before I entered my report! Well, by all accounts so far, we raised the bar with this one! I had almost forgotten how much work this gig was. The preparation was tedious, methodical, intense, but effective. From behind the scenes Howard,Mika, Alex, Nick, the staff, telephone pioneers, sports demonstrations, plus interns, I entered into the walk thru at 5pm with great confidence.
How about Mogollon, Honey Bears, Doc Holliday, Brandon and Carla, the Board, Tara and Gary, Fulton Homes( Richard), Keller Williams(Tom), APS (Monte) , Ottawa( Dr. Kim) and Terry and Percy--------DYNAMITE! And all the KIDS!!!!! Special thanks to Heather, Shawna, Dan, Chip and Sandy.
In my world the dust doesn't settle until my bribe tells me how I did....I truly value her opinion and keen sense of evaluation------she loved the evening, but I feel short in a couple of areas. I respect her judgement(she's been around for 32 years), and will try to continue to strive for that ever elusive "relentless pursuit of perfection."

"There is no beginning or end....Yesterday is history. Tommorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift."
It's banquet week! Extremely important to say the least! I would be kidding myself if I told you I don't feel a bit anxious about this one. The longer you are in this business the importance to do it right magnifies.
We will again drop the template over the evening by over preparing in order to reduce the margin of error. Thus, putting ourselves in a position to adjust when surprises occur. I like the "elements" we have in place and the manpower is strong....two major factors.
It's a special opportunity for our motto of "we can't thank you enough but we can try" to be in full swing. I'm hoping to see you there!
The"history" of this Celebration has survived the test of time. There is always some "mystery" involved in visualizing how I want it to be received. Plus, I'll take today as a "gift"to continue to leave no stone unturned.

JUBILEE!
The definition of GREAT to me is being consistently good at something over a long period of time.
My daughter Jessica is a professional dancer. She has danced since she was old enough to put one foot in front of the other. She is currently in Las Vegas performing at Bally's in JUBILEE , the longest running show in town----26 years!
I'm a numbers guy so I was impressed to learn the following about the show:
85: Total number of dancers and singers
9: Minimum number of costume changes per person per show
5: Number of different kinds of feathers in the show
35: Weight in pounds of heaviest headdress
4,200: Pounds of dry ice used weekly to create fog in show
It's called "sustainability!" I would like to think that the GCSG can work toward one day being thought of in these terms: GREAT and SUSTAINABLE!
In the meantime keep rockin' Jess and I can't wait to see the show!

"You really don't have a choice."
Our new Board President, John, and I have had this discussion on many occasions----I referred to it yesterday as "zipping up the suit!" The Superman Suit that is......
As the leader of the GCSG the responsibility and the accountability I feel to my staff, 14 board members, 38,000 participants, 65 sponsors, 1,000 volunteers, and 160 commissioners can be overwhelming at times.
There expectations are that you are Superman everyday when sometimes you feel like "Clark Kent". But, "you really don't have a choice." So that's what I do everyday is "zip up the suit" just like many of you do and hope that it fits....some days tighter than others.
I wonder what Jimmy and Lois would think?

For starters its Dallas' birthday! The Summer Games entry books are in as well as U.S. Bank's counter cards....it will be fun to deliver! Shawn-na-nas' board meets at noon-fun time.
Adding to the excitement we received word that Boris Diaw from the Suns has been named as our new Executive Commissioner....good news! Banquet scripts will be mailed plus program goes to print today.
For toppers, tonight will be our Summer Games Commissioners meeting. Always fun to see that bunch of good people.

"No one is immune!"
My glass is always half full but I must admit today has been a time to pay attention to what's going on around me.
I'm alarmed at the opposition the journey of the Olympic Torch run is having to endure. Good friends taking stands on opposite sides of the immigration issue is disturbing. Strong companies struggling with the economy and taking drastic measures to deal with it. The war and all the controversy that comes with the politics of our involvement. The challenges facing the housing and airline industries only to name a couple. And of course, the obstacles every family faces on a day to day basis."No one is immune!"
All the more reason to remember that the GCSG as a non profit 501c-3 is at the bottom of the food chain and the trickle down effect has already emerged. We are currently having our best year ever so my plan to confront the current state of affairs is as follows:
1.Have a grasp of the issues that will unite people.
2.Have an image that represents the virtues and the values people admire most.
3.Have the willingness to work for the common good and not for selfish interests.
4.Have the ability to inspire and motivate people. Wid

"Mahalo"
The two most important words in the English language in my opinion are "Thank You".
After this past week from GCSG headquarters, in Maui for my sons wedding, these words took on new meaning to me.I've been blessed!
1. My wife Cinda is the real deal! She again showed her unconditional love and strength for family ,friends, and her tolerance of me......which I might add can not have been easy over the last 32 years! For this I say, "Thank You!"
2. To our over 60 corporate sponsors, particularly the "big three", Fulton Homes, APS, and Keller Williams Realty, I say "Thank You". Without you it would not be possible.
3. "Thank You" to my three children-----Jessica, Dallas, and Erika-----I have been the recepient of your compassion, love, and understanding. I know at times it's hard for you as I'm not running a popularity contest. Please know that your mother and I love you!
4.To my loyal staff, supportive board, competitive athletes, knowledgeable commissioners, and tireless volunteers..... I salute you and I "Thank You!".

"Book em Dan-o!"
Remember the TV show "Hawaii Five-O?"
Well, for the next week the GCSG will be headquartered in Hawaii....I'm headed there for Dallas and Ems' wedding. My first true vacation in 13 years. I'm a little anxious to say the least. I do believe though with modern technology the transition will be seamless and I can stay productive and still enjoy this special occasion.
The saving grace of course is the tremendous competence of my loyal staff. Gary and Tara are "rock stars!"We will communicate daily as their are several important goals I have set forth for the week. I remember my days as an NFL scout when I was on the road for weeks at a time and things always seemed to work out! In fact the group probably needs a break from me pounding on them for a while. Also, if I get to restless or out of hand on the beach, I could easily hear the words"Book em Dan-o!"

"At the end of the day."
My instincts tell me to be careful what I say.
At the top of my mind is the enormous anticipation I feel prior to attending the Lori Piestewa
Memorial Sunrise service tomorrow morning at the foot of Piestewa Peak. My deep admiration and feeling for Terry ,Percy, Brandon , and Carla, is hard to explain. I do know for certain that our obligation to show unconditional respect as we present the 7th annual Lori Piestewa National Native American Games is paramount!
Along with this is the growing exhilaration for my sons wedding in Maui in two weeks, seeing old friends Sue and Al at a wedding that my youngest was in on Saturday(son-in law Adam was the unsung hero.....he paid for it today), and daughter Jess and husband Jamie took possession of their first home this past week!
Having said all of this , I was reminded at brunch after church by friend Kent's prayer that at the "end of the day" this was Easter Sunday!

"Sicker than a dog!
In furthering my attempt to turn back the hands of time, yesterday I thought I would load up at breakfast with my sons assortment of supplements. My first meeting was at 9a with Earl. I began to feel nauseous and chilled 1/2 way through the meeting. By the time our staff meeting took place at 12:30 p I had thrown up several times and my nose was running at will.By 2:30p I was listless and light headed. Sicker than a dog..... I went home.
When Dallas came home from work I was informed that the ingredients were highly laced with extracts of caffeine and other volatile substances. A favorite recipe for Mixed Martial Arts fighters. So much for my boxing debut!

"Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!"
Dallas and Em moved in! My son and his fiancee rolled in Saturday night late with all their stuff! Dallas to start his new job at the Scottsdale Hilton and Em to enter medical school! They will be living with us while looking for a new home and by the way , a wedding in Maui on April 4 sprinkled in !
My favorite addition was the BIG BLACK BAG! I took a quick refresher class from D-bug last night and put on the gloves for 30 minutes this morning. I'm not sure how close I was to" floating like a butterfly or stinging like a bee !?"

"We made someone very happy!"
Yesterday we received the news that Megan Kaiser,7th grader from Mesa Academy for Advanced Studies, and Vera Chatwin, ninth grader from El Capitan, were chosen by Mr. Ira Fulton as this years essay contest $2,500 scholarship award winners!
What fun to jump on the phone and call principals, teachers, parents and the students to pass along the exciting news!
In Megans case the Principal thought it would be neat to call the student to his office, with her teacher present, have me call on speaker phone and pass along the god news. Remember the feeling in your stomach when you were called to the Principals office when you were in 7th grade!?
The call went something like this:"Hello everyone. I'm Erik Widmark the Executive Director of the Grand Canyon State Games. Megan......do you remember the essay contest you entered a while back? Yes,she said. Well 3,671 other students from 49 states entered also! Guess what....you have been chosen from this group as one of two Ira Fulton Scholarship award winners. You have just won $2,500!...........Wow.......thank you so much!"
I could feel the energy in the room jump through the phone."We made someone very happy!"

"There is a fine line"
If you perform only to avoid failure you will be average. Rather what if you do not succeed? This weekend events were super!
1. Arm Wrestling
2. Baton Twirling
3. Sand Volleyball
4. Shooting
5. Track & Field Adult
6. Valley of the Sun Half marathon
I woke up at 1:30a showered and shaved and rushed to the course for our half marathon. Upon my arrival I was pleased with our preparation and set up went well. It is always a rush to drive the pace car as the sun rises and the race started on time 7a. It is always enjoyable to take in the breath taking scenery and see the volunteers at the aid stations and know that Shawna and Chip from our upcoming TV show "A to Z Games" were on the course taping footage.
As the runners began to cross the finish line there was a certain feeling of relief until I was made aware that we were low on water at the finish line and the volunteer food had not been ordered. Both deal breakers! After a quick call to Ronnie in his truck on the course asking him to bring water to the finish line and having Tara run to Subway both problems were solved.
There is a fine line between SUCCESS and FAILURE

"Coach Carter"
Well I've missed Dallas' bachelor party last weekend,Em's shower and bbq at Marks this weekend, but thanks to dear friends Shelly and Kent ,in our preparation for a huge two days, they had dropped off a movie they thought I would like!
After talking with Gary, Tara, Alan, Brian , and Jen I feel good about our plan. Having done that it was time to heat up some of Cin's delicious leftovers and catch a flick.Tomorrow and Sunday are significant.
Wow! You've got to see it! It's everything that we stand for, strive to achieve, work to accomplish, carry a message, provide opportunity, and take a strong position on the difference between right and wrong."Coach Carter!"

Americas number 1 show American Idol, and my favorite, was on last night.I was paying particularly close attention to Glendale native David Hernandez's bio when to my amazement they showed a picture of him as a young man accepting a medal at a gymnastics meet and he said "one of my highlights as a youth was winning a medal at the Grand Canyon Olympics!"

"It's more than just a GAME"
Last evening I had the distinct pleasure to host the recipient of the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the National Football Foundations 27th Annual Banquet, one of the six boards I proudly sit on in town. Mr. Bill Post,Chairman of the Board at APS, and his wife Mary Kay were extremely gracious and I was pleased the chapter chose them for this prestigious honor! Very deserving!
A significant sidelight was to reunite with Mr. Posts presenter Mr. Bill Shover who reminded me that he and my father had worked together many years ago on bringing the anchor of the USS Arizona back from Pearl Harbor. Also, good friend Ted Updike our "Chapter Leadership Award Winner"and his impressive family, told a cute story......he didn't need to be so kind!
Equally outstanding were the 24 scholarship award winners and there coaches! So inspiring it made me realize what an important role FOOTBALL has played in my life! From family, to attitudes, a source of strength, ,perseverance, leadership, humility, and life long relationships with friends. "It's more than just a GAME"

"Take it to the BANK"
In the world of sponsorship your only as good as your last deal! I'm particulary proud of our distinguished list of loyal sponsors that have embraced the ongoing vision of the GCSG! I have a separate story to tell with each of the 65! But at the end of the day, it's all about the people!
Such is the case with our newest member. I can't remember a more enjoyable negotiation than the long process that came to a positive close yesterday. Troy, Hope, and Judie were delightful, smart, professional, and sincere! Welcome US Bank and a new three year deal as a "Gold" sponsor to the family........and you can "take it to the BANK!"

"Presidents Day"
Normally I don't like three day weekends! Tough to find anybody to get anything done!
This was different:
1. Saturday morning visited our wiffleball tourney at Grand Canyon University!
2 .Saturday afternoon participated as the chief judge in the first annual George Washington Carver talent search! The concept has a chance.
3. Sunday morning volunteered at the Muhammed Ali walk-a-thon----humbling!
4. Sunday evening took care of some plumbing with neighbor Dave. House needs some work.
5. Monday went to work and started the day off talking to Jim Zorn ,the new Head Coach of the Washington Redskins. Great fun.....I was his college coach.
6. A visit from good friend Lew brightened my day------we have a plan!
7. The phones were quiet so I felt very productive. I'm ready for today.
8. Finally a call from great friend Todd....... he's going to help my son Dallas with an interview on Wednesday! Thanks!
Oh yeah----who's going to be the next President?!!

"Call Wid"
Valentines Day was a true sea of emotions! It started with a new garden hose(one to replace the "mass destruction" from my daughters dog Doug as you remember) and a beautiful card from my bride.
Then it was off to downtown for a meeting with Earl and Mary Rose. It went well and I was reminded that "laughter" is the best medicine.
Next up a very important sponsorship presentation..........I believe the outcome will be positive.
When I finally arrived home after a long good day, built myself a fire(Cinda was flying),poured myself a glass of wine, the phone rang and it was Cin. She had talked to Jane( my dear cousin Lynn's wife) earlier in the day. Lynn passed away on Dember 30 after an 8 year battle with prostate cancer. Jane said that Lynn never gave up and until his final days thought he was going to win!
Jane mentioned to Cin that in going through his things she ran across his journal.......Lynn's last entry was "Call Wid".

It's just a hat!
I woke up at 3:30 am with a feeling of excitement as if I were going to compete in the Boarder/Cross race at the days GCSG ski/snowboard competition at the Arizona Snowbowl. I waited as long as I could to call Snowbowl GM JR and Patrica to make sure the weather was good and banners, registration materials and t-shirts had made it up the hill ok.
I then jumped in my truck and rushed to Flagstaff. Upon my arrival I was thrilled to see what a beautiful day it was, skiers with bibs everywhere, shaking hands with old friends, plus JR and Linda I think were glad to see me!
JR had a plan! We first stopped in the pro shop where JR picked out a hat for me,then on to the lift to view the race beneath us. 165 athletes were registered and the Snowbowl crew had worked feverishly for two days to build a terrific course! It was great to see Brian working the finish line as the racers propelled themselves down the mountain with true competitive spirit in hopes of winning a medal! As the day went on I was somewhat embarresed at the preferential treatment I was receiving.
At the end of our journey JR sped off to watch his daughter race. I then realized it was much more than "just a hat!"

In preparation for our first official staff meeting of 2008 I was excited to feel a case of good old fashion "butterflies"! The ones I used to get on game days!Welcoming our new group of interns and being able to address the group and especially praise Gary & Tara, my loyal staff, was something I looked forward to.

Balance!
Last night was very special! Dinner at the Country Club with a great friend and board member John and his lovely new bride of 8 months Leslie. After stopping at their house for a pre- dinner tour of their re-modeled home and upon arriving at the newly renovated "club" I knew we were way out of our league and in for a unique evening.
Not to be disappointed,as we were seated ,it was noted that former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and former employer Bill Bidwill and his wife of the AZ Cardinals were also in this quaint setting. After a brief hello we settled in for an enjoyable dinner full of stories and stimulating conversation.A highlight was to discover that my father and Leslies father were both Pearl Harbor survivors.
During dinner I caught myself gazing at my stunning wife Cinda and realizing how important "balance "needs to become in my life.Having fun is a gift you can give to yourself. I will embrace life a little different today. Enjoy the benefits of laughter and high spirits and look forward to cooking some steaks for our friends!

Team Sport Outfitters & R2 Sports!
We all have good ideas and we are all prone to being visionary at times, but I've had a thought on my mind for a long while. I've always wanted our athletes to have the opportunity to buy sports equipment on our own web-site store at a GCSG discount.
On Monday Ron Nichols of Team Sport Outfitters and Ryan Rodgers of R2 Sports, two of our sponsors, and I will enter into negotiations to have this vision turn reality.
Wish me LUCK!
